Metro K9 Academy is a family-owned and operated training and placement center in Randolph, New Jersey. For more than 30 years, we have helped families and professionals find and train German Shepherds and Dobermans with clear temperaments and reliable, real-world obedience. We place locally and nationwide and support every client long after the handoff.
Our Facility
Training happens where it matters. Our campus includes a Schutzhund-size field, a dedicated obstacle and agility course, clean indoor and outdoor kennels, and quiet evaluation areas. Dogs are proofed in home-like settings and in public, so the transition to your lifestyle is smooth from day one.
Master Dog Trainer
Metro K9 Academy was founded by Robert Gierla, a master dog trainer with more than 3 decades of experience in the field. Robert has trained thousands of dogs for families, law enforcement agencies, celebrities, and high-profile executives worldwide. An expert in canine behavior, he provides corporate dog-bite prevention training to companies such as PSEG and United Water in New Jersey and New York.
Associations
We are proud members of Service Dogs of America, Schutzhund USA, American Working Dog Federation, the Schaeferhund Verein (SV), and the American Kennel Club (AKC). All our dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club.
Standards that Never Compromise
We select health-tested, titled lines for structure, clarity, and steady nerves. Training focuses on practical obedience you can maintain: heel without pulling, reliable recall, clean door and vehicle manners, neutrality in public, and a calm off switch in the home. Every placement includes owner handoff coaching, a simple practice plan, veterinary documentation, and lifetime support.
